Introduction
Prairie's Edge Casino sits on a bluff above the Minnesota River valley, just outside Granite Falls in southwest Minnesota. It is operated by the Upper Sioux Community (Pezihutazizi Oyate), and the casino on the bluff opened in 2003. Today the property works as a full resort, with a hotel, an RV park, an event center, a convention center and several places to eat.
We wrote this guide for people who are organizing something: a concert night out, a wedding weekend, a company meeting or a group bus trip. You will find the practical details in one place, including rates, the buffet schedule, how the gaming floor is divided and what else is worth seeing nearby. Where the resort has not published a detail, we say so instead of guessing.
If you are planning a group outing, our checklist for a casino bus trip pairs well with this page. Couples can start with the casino resort wedding checklist.

Events at Prairie's Edge
The resort hosts far more than gaming. The Prairie's Edge event center, the convention space and the sports bar stage give groups several ways to plan around the property.
Concerts at the Event Center
The Event Center is the main stage for Prairie's Edge casino concerts and comedy shows. Past acts have included Lady A, Loretta Lynn and Tracy Lawrence, so the bookings lean toward country and familiar headliners. The lineup changes, so check the current calendar before you plan around a date.
Tickets are sold through Afton Tickets (aftontickets.com/prairiesedgecasino) or at the resort Gift Shop. For questions about a particular show, call the Box Office at 320-564-6083. We could not find a published seating capacity, so ask if the layout matters to your group. If a show is the reason for your trip, lock in the concert date first and book the room second, because Special Event nights are priced separately.
Free live music at the Tap House
Prairie Tap House is a sports bar and venue. The resort lists free live music on Saturday nights on the Tap House Stage. It is a lower-commitment option if you do not want a ticketed show. It also works as an easy stop before or after a ticketed show. Opening hours were not published, so call 320-564-2121 for details.
Conferences and meetings
The Convention Center offers 20,000 square feet of flexible space with breakout rooms, including the Minnesota and Yellow Medicine meeting rooms. Presentation technology, free Wi-Fi and full catering are listed. Because the hotel is on site, a one- or two-day meeting can keep everyone in one place. Ask how room setups, audiovisual support and catering times can be matched to your agenda.
Weddings and celebrations
The resort handles events from the ceremony through the reception, plus bridal showers, rehearsal dinners and gift openings. The Sunset Lounge Rooftop Patio can also be booked for private events. Our wedding checklist covers questions to ask, from guest ages to decor rules. Banquet Sales (320-564-6065, [email protected]) is the place to start, and it helps to ask early how guests under 18 are handled around the gaming areas.
Planning a bus trip
Prairie's Edge bus trips range from day trips to overnight stays, and groups arrange them through a coordinator line at 320-564-6068. Group minimums and inclusions are not published online, so ask directly what a group receives and what the overnight options are. We walk through the whole process in how to plan a group bus trip to a casino resort.
Tip: Special Event nights
The regular room rates listed later in this guide do not apply on Special Event nights, which can include big concert dates. If your trip is built around a show, book the room as soon as you have the date and confirm the rate in writing.

Where to stay
Hotel rooms and suites
The Prairie's Edge casino hotel has more than 160 rooms and suites. A smoke-free wing holds 76 of them. Room types are Double Queen or King, Poolside Room, Suite and Poolside Suite. The mix includes six whirlpool suites, two river-valley-view suites and four poolside rooms.
Amenities include an indoor pool, a wading pool, a hot tub, a sauna and a fitness center. There is Wi-Fi, a fridge and microwave in every room, and a double-sided fireplace in the lobby. The hotel is pet-free, although ADA service animals are allowed. Check-in is at 4 p.m. and check-out at 11 a.m.
| Nights | Rate range | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Sunday to Thursday | $95 to $174 | Varies by room type and date |
| Friday and Saturday | $120 to $204 | Varies by room type and date |
| Special Event nights | Not covered | Regular rates do not apply; ask for the event rate |
The resort does not say which room type sits at which end of each range, so ask when you book. Taxes and any fees come on top.
Prairie View RV Park
The Prairie's Edge RV park is seasonal. When we checked it was closed for the season, and the opening and closing months are not published. In the off-season the resort offers electric-only sites at $15 a night, paid at the hotel desk. RV check-in is at 3 p.m. and check-out at noon.
| Site type | Sun to Thu | Fri, Sat and events |
|---|---|---|
| Bald Eagle Lane and White Tail Path, full-hookup drive-thru | $50 | $60 |
| Pioneer Drive, full-hookup | $45 | $55 |
| Rustic or tent | $15 | $15 |
The park is big-rig friendly and has LP gas and a dump station. A walking trail links the park to the convenience store, the gas station and the casino.
The casino floor
Classic coin slots
The resort's main claim is the largest collection of classic coin slot machines in the Midwest. That is the resort's own description, and we have not counted. You play with real coins and tokens, on games such as Double Diamonds, Sizzling Sevens and Red White and Blue. Modern video slots are available if you prefer them.

Smoke-free gaming
Prairie's Edge says it has the largest self-contained non-smoking gaming area in Minnesota, with its own HVAC system. The main floor allows smoking. If smoke bothers anyone in your group, go straight to the non-smoking side and ask about the smoke-free hotel wing when you book.
Table games
Live Blackjack, with stakes from $10, and Ultimate Texas Hold 'Em run Wednesday through Monday from 11 a.m. to 3 a.m. They are closed on Tuesday. Virtual Roulette and Virtual Blackjack start at $1 and run around the clock. There is no dedicated poker room.
Club Horizon rewards
The Club Horizon rewards program gives you $5 in free slot play when you sign up. You earn points on slots and tables, and 500 points can be redeemed for $5 in free play or cash. Members also get a 5-cent-per-gallon gas discount on up to 20 gallons, plus drawings and mailed offers.

Beyond the casino: things to do near Granite Falls
If you are looking for things to do in Granite Falls, MN, the area has more history than most visitors expect. Distances below are from the resort, as listed on the official attractions page.

A note on Upper Sioux Agency State Park. On March 15, 2024, the roughly two square miles of park land were returned to the Upper Sioux Community, so it is no longer a state park and we do not list it as a place to visit. The photo below is used only to show the valley's scenery. For the story of the return, see MPR News.

Want to build a whole weekend around the area? Our Minnesota River Valley fall drive suggests a route.
Getting there
Granite Falls is in the Minnesota River valley in the southwest part of the state. The main routes are US 212, MN 23 and MN 67. Drive times below are routing estimates, so allow extra for weather and construction.
| From | Distance | Drive time |
|---|---|---|
| Minneapolis | About 128 mi | About 2.5 hours |
| Minneapolis-St. Paul airport (MSP) | About 125 mi | About 2.5 hours |
| Willmar | About 42 mi | About 1 hour |

Tips and honest caveats
- Check event dates first. Regular room rates do not apply on Special Event nights.
- Smoking is allowed on the main floor. Head for the non-smoking area or the smoke-free hotel wing if you are sensitive to smoke.
- No poker room. If poker is the draw, this is not the place. Table games are blackjack, Ultimate Texas Hold 'Em and virtual games.
- Some hours are unpublished. For Firefly, Prairie Tap House and Wotapi Deli, call before you go.
- RV season is not published. Call before planning an RV trip, as the park was closed for the season when we checked.
- Photos here are illustrative. None show the resort itself, since we could not find openly licensed images of it.
FAQ
What is the gambling age at Prairie's Edge Casino?
The resort lists a gambling age of 18 and older. That is the rule for the casino floor, so anyone younger cannot play slots or tables. If your group includes guests under 18, such as at a wedding or event, ask the resort how it handles access to the gaming areas before you book.
Is Prairie's Edge Casino open 24 hours?
Yes, the casino floor is listed as open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Other parts of the resort keep their own schedules. Live Blackjack and Ultimate Texas Hold 'Em run Wednesday through Monday, 11 a.m. to 3 a.m., and the Meadows Restaurant has set hours, so check before planning a meal.
Does Prairie's Edge have coin slot machines?
Yes. The resort says it has the largest collection of classic coin slot machines in the Midwest, and that you play them with real coins and tokens. Titles named by the resort include Double Diamonds, Sizzling Sevens and Red White and Blue. Modern video slots are on the floor as well.
Is there a non-smoking area at Prairie's Edge?
Yes. The resort describes its non-smoking gaming area as the largest self-contained one in Minnesota, with its own ventilation system. Smoking is still allowed on the main casino floor. The hotel also has a smoke-free wing of 76 rooms, so you can ask for that when you book.
How much is a room at Prairie's Edge Casino Hotel?
When we checked in November 2026, rates before tax ran $95 to $174 Sunday through Thursday and $120 to $204 Friday and Saturday. They depend on room type and date. These rates do not apply on Special Event nights, so confirm the price for your exact dates directly with the hotel.
Who plays at the Prairie's Edge Event Center and how do I get tickets?
The Event Center hosts concerts and comedy. Past acts include Lady A, Loretta Lynn and Tracy Lawrence, though the schedule changes. Tickets are sold through Afton Tickets or at the resort Gift Shop. For questions about a show, call the Box Office at 320-564-6083.
Can I bring an RV to Prairie's Edge?
Yes, through the seasonal Prairie View RV Park. It was closed for the season when we checked, with an off-season electric-only option at $15 a night paid at the hotel desk. In season there are full-hookup drive-thru sites, regular full-hookup sites and rustic or tent sites. Big rigs are welcome.
How far is Prairie's Edge from Minneapolis?

Play responsibly
Gambling is entertainment, not income
You must be 18 or older to gamble in Minnesota tribal casinos. Set a budget before you go, only bring money you can afford to lose, and take breaks. If gambling stops being fun, call the Minnesota helpline at 1-800-333-HOPE (4673). The resort also publishes responsible gaming information.
